Here’s where we went on our recent visit to Spain and Portugal. Our focus was on National Parks. Many great overnight spots but the highlights were –
    • Fuente De - cable car
    • Las Medulas – Roman gold mine ruins and ancient chestnut trees
    • Os Banos – hot springs and Roman villa
    • Barril de Alva – great place to chill, reminded me of an Australian bush camp
    • Toledo – we were there when they were having a mini Roman festival
    • Segovia – we followed the aqueduct from where it starts into the city -
    • Arguedas - rock houses in cliff above aire and Bardenas Reales NP, 34 km circular gravel road through desert landscape
In Avila we celebrated our 365th night in the van.

    • Spain - Santillana Del Mar - 43.38913 - -4.10638 - - CU - 4€/ 24hrs. Old sign at entrance has tent crossed out symbol with Autocaravanas underneath, we were the only ones there -
    • Spain - Fuente De - 43.14462 - -4.81318 - - CR - Sign at entrance says no campervans after sunset. National Park booth not manned until Saturday morning. 3 other vans first night, on our own second night. - Cable car 17€ return, 900m height gain. 18degC at bottom, 7 at top

    • Spain - Ponferrada - 42.54281 - -6.58657 - - AF - Service point. Area marked out for trucks but none there. - Templar Castle, Radio Museum, Jail Museum - free on Wed
    • Spain - Las Medulas - 42.46153 - -6.76739 - - CR - - Roman gold mining remains. 4km linear walk past three small lakes to Mirador de Chao de Masseiros viewpoint. 4km walk to La Cuevona and La Encantada cave like excavations through centuries old chestnut trees. One TIC near CP, another one in the village.
    • Spain - A Rue de Valdeorras - 42.38794 - -7.11492 - - AF - -
    • Spain - Os Banos - 41.97948 - -7.98242 - - CR - CP for As Leirinas Roman thermal springs pools, narrow and steep approach from main road - Impressive remains of Roman fort a short walk south

Around the first of the month from April to October, every couple of months during the Winter.

I post an announcement once an update is available.
