I tend to refer to it as wilding but whatever you call it my opinion is the same as others, anywhere you stop that isn't designed for the purpose of staying overnight, but I don't have many fancy mod cons, I just have an auld van wi' somewhere to cook, keep myself clean and snore my heid off without waking the neighbours (unless some eejjiit parked too close.)

Real wild camping is what a mate of mine did, he'd go out as far from other people as he could get, find a place with water & build a wee shelter from what he found, he hunted/fished for his food (rabbits etc.,) & would stay there till someone found him or he got fed up & came back home.

This reminds me of an incident a few years ago, New years day, a guys body was found a short distance from the back of my daughter's house, youngish bloke, apparently he was making his way back from celebrating, the footpath was across rough ground, guy froze to death.

Most comfortable nights wilding I ever had was several metres below the top of Helvellyn in a sphagnum moss bog...just like a water bed. The warmest was somewhere south of Lancaster several meters from the LMS railway line with a glowing fire stoked up with coals picked up off the track...bit noisy at times though!

Yet another occasion when I got away with it unlike the poor soul you refer to. Poor fella, even poorer family and friends?
When I was younger I felt like a man trapped inside a woman’s body. Then I was born.
