If you're stuck on the meaning of the word 'Torrent' then read no further !

In the spirit of helpfulness for those motorhoming abroad I'd like to tell you about Seedr.
We're limited to a 15GB data allowance abroad on each of our IOS devices, so although we CAN download British TV while we're away on holiday, it does come off our allowance. We've used this Seedr website for a while now and it's free (obvs!) and legal.
Just copy the magnetic link, for the TV show you want to watch, from a torrent site and paste it in Seedr. Their servers download it for you. It'll sit there till either you choose to download it yourself (you'll need VLC app to watch it), in which case it comes off your allowance or you can wait for some free Wi-fi and download it on someone else's.
If this seems convoluted it's because you can't download eg BBC programs on Wi-fi when you are abroad unless you use create a personal hotspot. But if Seedr collects the TV show for you, then you CAN download straight to your iPad/iPhone on Wi-fi or even stream it directly from the website.

Phew if you use this link you'll get a free 500MB upgrade but this only applies to the first three people.

    So... is it legal?

"Well, it's a grey area. Sharing a file or piece of media without the copyright holder's consent is absolutely illegal - but the argument is that with torrenting, you're only ever sharing a small, completely meaningless string of data, so technically you're not doing anything wrong. Technically.
But generally speaking, we absolutely advise against torrent downloads. It requires stepping onto some very sticky legal ground - you're sharing an unlicensed, copyrighted piece of media. Which is illegal.
That means you can still get in some quite serious legal trouble, like a lot of people have done in the past. Besides, it's not fair on the copyright holders and the people who are relying on royalties from their media to pay the bills."

Not come across that one but there are many torrent sites available that you can (apparently) download most series from any station world wide on sometimes within minutes of them being on but its a bit of a minefield and not for the faint hearted and of course most of them ARE illegal. The consequences of using them varies from each country and most service providers like BT block them now but you can use a VPN to get around that. (allegedly).

Reminds me of the woman stopped at the airport (may be urban myth lol) years ago and asked why she was taking a portable TV abroad. Turned out she didn't want to miss any episodes of Corrie
