Took my shed for an MOT yesterday same motor engineers for last 3/4 years, I got a message from garage sorry but Vosa came round to garage while we were doing your MOT they said it is too big for your garage!! so will have to pick it up and take it elsewhere. Strange how it always fit in there before.

Sounds like they should never have done it previously.

could be this garage getting arsey and not wanting to do the last job i asked them to do - i've only had 2 vehicles MOTd and serviced for 4 years with them and bought a vehicle off them... so i've found a better garage nearer where i live... stuff em

There is too much opportunity for greedy garages to make up extra jobs.

Have you noticed when you buy a secondhand car from a dealer with a new mot that the next mot it requires a list of jobs doing that is a yard long ?

All those jobs did not occur in 12 months and 5 thousand miles.

They either passed a car with faults or made up a long list of repairs.

Nobody minds having safety items repaired if they really need it.

For underneath inspection does the garage use a lift or a pit?

If a lift, it maybe that it cannot go up high enough to prevent inspectors stooping excessively - bad for backs etc.

Our MOT station uses a pit because they do coaches which cannot be lifted.

I was always told that there are different MOTs for the customers and for the dealers theirs is less intrusive shall we say. 🤨

In Poland, and some other countries, one can only get a test done at a government station, which do not do repairs. Solves problem.

I use a UK MOT tester which only does tests, no repairs. In 5 years have only had to take it away(100yds) for one of the rear number-plate bulbs to be replaced, re-tested and away, all within half an hour.
