AS I have little sense of smell I use an electronic gas detector to check for leaks, very sensitive as it can sense gas in rubber hoses that have not been used for some time. A gas engineer confirmed they are the way to go

The slow leaks are why proper leak spray is worth the small amount it costs....
Being a thicker spray it shows up smaller leaks before it has chance to run off.... Especially at low pressures
It also doesn't contain salt like a lot of washing liquids do.... Its why using washing up liquid isn't good for refitting window rubber seals (salty liquid residue trapped near to potentially raw unpainted metal hidden behind a rubber festering away unseen)

Our bottles are only the small So we get through them pretty quick !
If you still want one, this is sat in my cupboard gathering dust. Let me know and I can take it to the Frog in Feb.

If I remember, I'll acquire a tin of the leak detector spray for you, use it to check for a leak once new thingy is on.
