Hi, This is me thinking out loud , I was wondering if it could be possible to add
HEIGHT BARRIERS to the maps ,we seam to be getting so many going up these days , I'm sure this would help when looking for some where to park.

    Height barriers

    Are a real problem..

I am posting about simple parking (shopping or lunch stop or visiting a nature reserve or the like) without wishing to overnight !

In some cases I have had to reverse back out into a busy road having turned into a carpark only to discover a "Hidden Height Barrier"

Not expecting anything can be changed but....

You have just pressed my button!!!!!
Since beginning campering 5 years ago I am convinced that hight barriers are on the increase, perhaps in relation to the up take of motor homing?
However it is getting ridiculous and last year I could not use Salisbury park and ride because of the hight barrier!!
I drove off in a huff from Kings Lynn for the same reason, all the large car parks had barriers.
The standard answer is "because of the travellers" but I wonder..........

What really annoys me is why they don't indicate on the parking signs when there is a barrier! Drove all round Maidstone once, seven ( I think) carparks later..gave up and went elsewhere!

    For say Park & ride

    Research
Normally/sometimes a town / city will have just 1 P&R suitable for motorhomes

Of course most of the time it will be 10 miles from the one that is best for you

Methinks DISCRIMINATION but as has been posted the standard response is "travellers" not an acceptable reply !

As has been said "Spend our money where we are welcome"

My VW T5 can limbo under height barriers. Just pop the top when under. I think Forestry Commission are going to be installing more. 😁

I have a key, 12v grinder with skinny disc.

They are dangerous. I seen an ambulance hitting the one at Straiton retail park, not long after it was removed.

My first camper van was a 1972 VW Devon Moonraker, took it all over Europe in the summer of 1995. It had a fibreglass high top, a mate referred to it as a "Mr Whippy conversion". I used to drive it to the same supermarket every Friday night after work.

One Friday night I turned into the car park and at the last second noticed a newly installed height barrier. I slammed on the brakes, about a metre from turning my camper into a convertible.

    No signs or warnings anywhere!

On principle I never shopped there again and to this day I don't hand over money to retailers who prevent me from using their car park.
