    Wild Night

I hit the hay about midnight last night and was up again an hour later, got absolutely hammered with wind and rain,it actually got scary with some wind gusts hitting the truck full on. The dog didn't look happy at all and it just went on all night,I'd pulled into a forestry carpark late yesterday so I was in a relatively sheltered area although it didn't feel like it. I can't imagine what it must have been like out in the open and feel fortunate I hadn't parked by the lake where I had originally intended to go. I finally got back to bed about 4am but it was still pretty ferocious.
Anyone else get caught out in it?
I'm in mid Wales and wasn't even aware that lot was coming as my internet has been a bit patchy.

Wind at night can be awful when trying to sleep esp with the van rocking, but have you tried some over the counter tummy powders and cut down on beans and veg for super.
On truth it has been very windy round our home with some trees down round country side.

We were at Troon my god that was windy up on the front, we moved around the corner to the industrial estate,
If Id had a pint of beer it would have blown the froth off 😄

Love a stormy night in the van with the wind rocking you to sleep. Hated the wind when had the caravan with the awning though.

Returning from Hawes in Yorkshire a couple of years ago, I had to take shelter in a pub car park because of the amount of branches and trees coming down. Trying to make my tea was like being in the submarine from Bottom Of The Sea, where the crew get thrown about.Pretty scary, in fact so scary I had to take refuge in the pub and drink copious amounts of real ale to calm my nerves

Normally I love a good storm too,but last night went beyond enjoyable,I did consider driving off to find a more sheltered spot but being in the middle of a forest I decided that was probably more dangerous. I spent a few years living in Sydney and as soon as we got a storm I'd be straight out onto the balcony to watch the lightning coming down all over the city,I was quite high up and got a fantastic show.

    .

You get some humdingers in Sydney don't you. We were on Bondi beach, glorious sunny afternoon, started to get cloudy, then dark, then all hell let loose. One of the best storms I have ever witnessed and one of the quickest mass exodus from the sea, it couldn't have been more frantic had a Great White been spotted! The lightening was coming thick and fast and the thunder shook the sand beneath my feet. Probably not the wisest thing to do,standing as a solitary figure on the beach with lightening flashing around but it was truly awesome to observe.

Wern't you afraid of branches coming down on you?

I hate the wind. Years ago I saw stacked scaffolding boards being blown about like matchsticks.
I was near some men's toilets and i shot inside. Never experienced anything like it since.....and I hope I never see it in the future.
