Schengen VISA not required for spouses

I have just come across something on the blog and found it verified on a few other blogs. Obviously need to check with actual legislation et cetera

    But…

To comply with the EU directive of free movement of people, if you are married to an EU citizen but not from the EU yourself, you are entitled to travel with them as if you are from the EU.
In my own case I am British, married to an Irishman on an Irish passport. This is not a thread for or against Brexit, but it has implications for how long we personally certainly can stay in the EU, if there is a hard Brexit, we will be able to continue up to 3 months in each country, I think!

The purpose of this thread is to see if anybody else knew about this and to advise people who have a spouse who is not an EU national. Or did everyone know about this but me?

Too late now, we will look at it in more detail tomorrow.

Not sure if I am right but thought that even with a hard no deal brexit we would get 3 months in the whole Schengen area before having to leave the entire Schengen area for 3 months ?

I think the difference is as an EU citizen you can have unlimited freedom of movement but the rule (which isnt enforced really) is three months per country. Outside of the EU its three months full stop across the entire region not per country.

Whats that religion where you can have more than one wife? Is it the Mormons. Im joining them. Get an Irish Wife about 19-25 will do. Job sorted. She can help Mrs D with stuff. Its a win win.

Barry, you need to apply for a "polygamy"visa at point of entry.
The value of a man should be seen in what he gives and not in what he is able to receive.

Both my son's are married to non EU citizens. The youngest was able to travel from UK through France and into Spain using freedom of movement for spouses. The eldest tried to enter Spain from Morocco using the same rules, but the Spanish refused her entry even when shown the rules. They were definitely wrong but just refused! The plan had been to go through Spain, stay with us in Portugal then we all had flights booked to uk. He had to get a last minute flight to UK ( she already had a visa for UK) which stopped at Madrid, where they accidentally stamped her into Spain when only in transit!! I suppose my point is that if you are going to use this rule, take the printed documents showing the rules with you so you can argue if necessary! France let Paul in just seeing his marriage certificate...but he had it all printed out , just in case.
