    hi
does anyone know how to connect a inverter to van electrics.
i bought a xantrex 1000 prosin pure sine wave inverter and it does
not have a socket built in for a plug to connect it. it just has a connector
block to fasten the cable to. there is no instructions as its off e bay. used.

If it doesn't have a 240v 3 pin socket for the mains connection it will have to be hard wired from the connector block that you mention. There should be some information in the terminal box about polarity and wiring it correctly(L,N and Earth)
    cheers,Steve

If you have a fuse box/trip you can wire it through it which will power any mains sockets,if no sockets do as above thread but use a fuse trip unit, and then a socket.
The other feed wire to hab battery with a fuse in link.

That could really be asking for one big BANG .. Especially if you have the mains power and the inverter on together. They will probably come on out of phase and anything could happen. It's the sort of thing that gets done and everyone knows about it except when someone forgets or the van has been sold ...

    ..

The inverter should be wired to the battery with thick cable ( Short as Possible ) and a decent size fuse. The wire from your inverter to the 13 amp socket/s can be ordinary 13 amp 3 core cable. Keep the two circuits TOTALLY SEPARATE ..

if wiring direct to the vans consumer unit etc there will need to be some sort of change over switch preferably automatic, not good to have the inverter connected to the mains circuits then plug the van into electric hook up, however I beleive on SOME of these zantrex inverters there is a built in switch that enables direct connection to the consumer unit, automatically isolating the inverter if it detects other voltage.

    photos pictures needed

Sounds like it wires straight to mcb! My lb and mcb are on different sides of van.

whats the 1000w inverter wire lengthand core size? Longer and thiner more heat and waste
    A
Are you using any high powerd 240v items, hair dryer, kettel or microwave from van 240v outputs/ sockets? in van

    If so
Add another mains curcit box/board 10. sounds best option. So you can cut feed/output! when on ehu!

Pic's needed of unit wires in and out, how far from battery is its home? or just put on level surface and pluged into drawing 70 amps.

The Chinese were the 1st to exspirence fire works. LoL

    Hope this helps!

    hi
i was just thinking about that. what will happen when on hook up. it does
say in the instructions in the earlier post it is protected but not to connect
a power lead directly in it. the rest i cant understand. if its hard wired you
will not be expected to keep disconecting it will you.

The wiring diagram in the PDF File is very simple. You first have to decide which model you have. You can tell this by the stickers on the power block. If it has AC IN and AC OUT then you have to cut the wire that goes to the sockets and connect one end to AC IN and the other to AC OUT. If you don't have AC IN and AC OUT then you need extra sockets installed and keep the two circuits separate. If you cannot understand the basics perhaps you should get an electrician in to sort it before you do any damage. Be careful ELECTRICITY CAN KILL ..
