    Faulty Bottle?

My Calor butane ran out tonight so I went to the garage and exchanged it,got back to my park up to make a brew and couldn't get the hob to light, tried turning reg on/off etc, went back to the garage, swapped again but had to get a 15kg as they didn't have any 7kg left. Parked up again, now working ok. Is it possible a bottle can have a fault that would stop it delivering the gas? Or is it more likely a regulator issue?

I suspect you were given an empty bottle!

That was my first thought, but it weighed a lot more than the one I handed in,and the tag was in place on the top.

No not too cold,I've had it working below freezing and it's currently around 3-4 deg c. Bit of a mystery really.....

5 vehicles in four countries. Hobby in Germany, Airstream Cutter in USA, MCI MH & OKA 4WD in Oz,
You might have had them working below freezing before provided it was snug in your gas locker, but presumably the new bottle had been nicely cold-soaked and was actually below freezing.

Recently had to return a bottle to the depot. The chap tried it in a spare fire, no joy.
He explained that sometimes during filling a bit of air get trapped and being lighter than the gas rises to top of bottle.

    Yes, we have one
Quite possibly the regulator has gone belly up!
    Always worth carrying a spare!

Thanks for the replies, still working fine this morning, definately not too cold last night,I'm on the south coast and it was well above freezing,I like the air trapped idea seems like a possible.

Can I ask why you use butane against propane which will work to -40c which is far more suitable for winter.
