Can any one tell me what the black switch is actually for, the one that says batterie trennschalter. Batterie Ein and Batterie Aus. I would add a photo but don’t know how. That should of course read Hymer Elektroblock in the title

DO NOT mess with the electroblock unless you know what you are doing ,they are very expensive to replace.

Each model of Hymer comes with a different model of Electroblock. Your picture doesn't show the model number.

I would expect (from the label) that the switch disconnects the battery, but it can't be that: you would have switched the switch and seen what it does before bothering to take a photo and posting a question.

Perhaps you really do mean what you ask: "what is the switch for?" (as opposed to "what does it do?") - and I'm afraid I have no idea!

Why cant it disconnect the battery? If thats what its labelled then thats what I would expect it to do! What is it for .......disconnecting the battery, What does it do? .... disconnects the battery.
Mind you what it disconnects it from is another matter.
Logically I would have thought its just an on/off switch for the elektroblok

No I didnít switch the switch. Not without knowing what it would do, I thought it smarter to find out first as opposed to regretting it. Iíll take a full photo of the block tomorrow

That looks like our EBL99. From memory, that switch turns off the 12v feed to the van but doesn't stop the battery charging (either from 12V or hookup).

That switch is to disconnect the leisure batteries from the EBL. If you are going to change batteries they say to switch off there then change batteries and if necessary change battery type setting before turning back on. Leisure batteries should not charge through the EBL while that switch is off. Switching of 12volt between leisure and starter batteries should be done via a separate switch panel/control unit with an EBL

EDIT: Or that is what it does on my EBL 102 and the EBL 30
