Dish Align. You select the satellite from the list and click the compass symbol in the lower right box. You need WiFi or 4G to precisely identify your location. This app has worked for me all over France for Astra 28.2E.

Surely you need GPS to establish your precise location?

I use an iPad with Mifi so no GPS. With Dish Align you can point to your position manually with your finger using google earth which is probably as accurate as GPS.

Best of all itís free so if it does not work for the users circustances nothing lost. But it works for me!

You can't use wi-fi or 4g to get your precise location, only a very rough location (good enough for aligning a dish, though). You can use GPS to get your precise location, but unless you are moving that won't tell you your alignment. You need a compass for that. I don't know if iPhones have a compass. Most Android phones do, so iPhones probably have as well.

I sometimes use DishPointer - Align your satellite dish you obviously need an internet connection but after you put in your position and change it to the 28.2 Astra satellite then click 'search' it shows you on a map with a line of the exact direction to point your dish to, I had to use it yesterday after struggling with my meter

    Thanks

Just had a look at dishpointer from my phone. Seems very easy to use. Thanks.

In my defence 9 times out of 10 it does look like I'm listening.
