    Hi all,

New to this game but as ex backpackers I think we will find our new motorhome absolute luxury :-)

Last year I spent 3 months driving solo (wearing a kilt the whole way) in two 20 year old cars from Birmingham to Cape Town without a problem. 21,000 miles and 26 countries. I am NOT mechanical and took no spares I was just lucky and the cars were fabulous with not a single problem.

We have just taken delivery of a new Swift Bessacarr 542 and hope to rent the house out and aim for Europe around August time, for a year or more but could end up anywhere.

All suggestions for our first local outing (Its still on the drive) around the Midlands'ish will be very much welcomed, so we can get used to the van. My wife has a health condition so somewhere that has flat terrain for cycling would be wonderful. We are based near Birmingham.

    Thank you

    Welcome.
I would suggest paying for membership of on of the caravan clubs. Then booking a site near the dealer. Ask the dealer if there's one nearby. You might need to go back, for snagging..
    .
You don't need a big campsite, just 5 vans, a tap and waste disposal.
You'll meet other campers, who will be on hand for advice and tips.
Motorhomes are complicated beasts, gas, water mains and 12V systems and all the moving parts, some of which shouldn't be moving.. " falling off ",is the technical term.

Then you can spread your wings and take off for adventures.
We wish someone had given us this advice, 20 years ago.
