Found this calendar for some of the UK's quirky village and towns customs. We have stumbled across a few of of them on our travels which have turned out to be great fun.

there are lots of scarecrow festivals held in villages in yorkshire.

there is the Knatesborough BED RACE which attracts teams from far and wide including abroad.....bed teams race around the town then they have to cross a stretch of the river.......includes a parade before the race.......

wonder what is going on in your area.

Interesting, but very incomplete. I looked for five events I know of and only found one of them.

Why not list them and we can build up on the calendar?

Lymm, which is our last base held Dickensian Day, Rose Queen, Blues Festival and Mum'ers Plays.

Aston, which is our current abode holds a scarecrow festival, nearby Nantwich holds the Battle of Nantwich, Food festival, Jazz Festival and a Beer Festival.

Pudsey Park, Yorkshire. 1st of April:

    Heading the Shot:

Teams of husband, " the putter ", and wife, " the nutter ",compete to see if she can head the shot back for him to catch. They have to stand 5 yards apart, while wearing size 12 wellies.

    It's a knock out competition.
    Great family fun!

To be quite honest, there are two reasons why not.

Firstly, the website looks as if it is 20 years out of date, so it appears that it isn't being maintained.

Secondly, the website doesn't clearly invite people to suggest additions and corrections. Who is going to go to the trouble of sending the details if it looks like they will be ignored?

Both these are easy enough to fix, of course.

I know that custom well 'stumbling across them' usually happens after visiting
    the village boozer.

I only had a quick glance and some of the dates are 2014 so your 20 year old site not maintained is a bit out of order.
