The speakers we have with the computer are crap Pluscom's, any ideas for a good pair of speakers that can handle a bit of volume without sounding as if the cones are going to tear apart?

I blew a Heybrook mains home HIFI speaker, so decided to fit car speakers in the cabinets, (a replacement Heybrook was over 200quid).

I bought some Vibe 6-9-3's & a pair of Fly 10" subs for half price in halfrauds, I fitted them in the cabs & was expecting, not a lot.

But, they are really good they have good base response with punchy mid tones & crisp treble.!

So for about £80-00 I have some really good speakers

You see a lot of soundbars these days but plenty of normal PC speakers still in the shops and on Amazon ... Harman Kardon, Creative Labs, Bose and Logitech are all names that spring to mind, oh and Anker too. If you Google something like 'best speakers for PC', you'll find lists and reviews. Here's one... 10 best computer speakers | The Independent

If your computer has bluetooth capability, you could go down that route. I've got a great little JBL speaker that works wired (via USB) or bluetooth and I use it for most things... it even works with the TV. It's compact but fairly powerful and a really nice sound... not sure what the wattage is but there's enough to avoid that awful vibrating/buzzing you mentioned.. Mine's the Flip 3 but there's a Flip 4 out now. This is mine...

Ditto on Flip 3. Apparently some sports cars install Flip ... May have been Ferrari.

    Go full in

I have a USB Digital to Analogue converter hooked up to a proper little mini Amp that powers the decent sized bookshelf speakers.

Proper hi fi that by-passes the computer weedy sound card. All fits neatly under the monitor.

Mind you, not cheap, but then you are loaded.

Speakers alone are not the problem.

I have Logitech speakers on my PC. No complaints from me about quality (though the wife often moans when watching TV). There are more modern equivalents of what I have. Look at the reviews for Logitech Z213 on Amazon.
