Good luck with the new er van....definitely get in touch with Trading standards...certainly seems to have worked for me (fingers crossed!) Dont know anything about fuseboxes but thats what the garage are paid to do!! We all need to find a "proper mechanic" who can use their iniative and skill to actually fix things! Had this conversation with a friend the other day, he was telling us their car needed something but it was "tooo complicated" so garage advised a new one (huge cost)...he took it home, took it to bits and fixed it! fiddly and time consuming but saved lots of dosh!

Off to look at a few possible car-van replacements this morning with a kind mate who has a vehicle that works heh heh.

If anyone knows where there's a reasonable old workhorse in the shape of a Renault Kangoo, Citroen Berlingo or Peugeot Partner (the mpv versions, not the vans) and it might be possible to somehow get it up to north County Durham do let me know.

It's sod's law that all the half-decent 'possibles' I've found so far are at t'other end of the country with nowt much to speak of in my area!

As you say, buying secondhand you have to be flexible with what you buy, search the usual places, gumtree, ebay, the free ads.

Having said that you are entitled to a lot more legal protection buying from a car dealer, and paying on a credit card.
