Possibly the case of a badly judged "Number 96 off board 3 in the window"
    HOWEVER..

To a lot of folks ink marks a place in time... In their lives..
    And is with them...
Albeit faded and worn (just like we all get) for ever.

Oddly I don't judge folks on how they look.

One of the most interesting folks I ever talked with had a many digit number tatooed on his wrist...
Faded and barely legible... And wrinkled skin... To be honest it looked awful.

And it was a terrible tattoo

    He was a holocaust survivor.

    Why would you disfigured yourself.

thing with tattoos is - they're done by young vibrant kids embracing their youth , and who gives a toss what they look like when they're old and past it , only old people make this comment !
modern tattoos are often quite amazing works of art , if people can overcome their distaste long enough to look at what's actually available these days , and having a work of art , a real one-off,permanently on your body , is closer to being a true art collector than most people can afford

I agree on part of what you are saying.
Itís the spur of the moment, what can I have done, now thatís ugly.
And itís a fashion, that sucks folk in.
A waiting period could stop that.

Don't ever get pished on scrumpy and have a bottle of Indian ink and a sewing needle in reach. That's what happened to me as a 13 year old and in my drunken state I decided to tattoo RAL on my hand. I got as far as creating a black blob before I passed out. Yup, it's still there and it looks sh1t.
    Toe jam really is delicious.
