Didn't always agree with him, but always informative.

    Truly sad news.

Very sad to hear this. I was disappointed he never chose to return to the forum as he added some colour to the site and forums need that. Whether you agreed with him or not he was one of those posters that got your attention if he posted. RIP David.

Sad news indeed. He helped me out on a few occasions and although our political views were at opposite ends of the spectrum I always thought him a true, honest man.

We did have several spats and he contacted me via pm a few times. The upshot was he actually invited me to go over and stay at his property in France,I really wish I had taken him up on that offer because he would have been good company.RIP W I N T O N I A N.
    Exactly !
I could have said just that.

I never met him but verbally sparred with him on many occasions. He could vary between being very frustrating and being very supportive and informative; we agreed on some things and disagreed on others but his posts were always a good read. The forum is certainly a more boring place without him. RIP David.

This was a real shock to read. He was one of this forums great characters. On one hand he got a lot of backs up but you could not fault his honesty. On the other hand he was always helpful & so knowledgeable. He used to explain things in great detail & in great length. I remember his fridge posts well.
RIP David our thoughts go out to his family.
