The fact that they have closed all the drove roads so that nobody can camp over the few days of the 4 times a year that it is open to the public for FREE and now we have been herded into their carpark so we have to pay for a few hours parking and no staying over and partying and celebs but if you’ve never done the drive thing you would not get it just another way of taking money from the public.

Great piece of empty land just down the road at the edge of a housing estate. I parked there for work once when checking a bridge. The local premesis was even kind enough to pan a bunch of it's cameras around to keep an eye on my car and check I didn't trip over under the bridge. They even buzzed me with a Chinook on my way back to the car.

    Couldn't have been nicer.

In all fairness, having got lost, driven 2 circuits of porton down, then parked next to the fence and wondered off under the adjacent bridge, I guess I warranted a bit of a check.

nope, not aware of the various other droves and roads.
Whenever I have gone past Stonehenge (used to pass it 4 times a week - two up, two back - when I commuted from Devon to Hampshire) the only options I noticed - and used - was the Engish Heritage car park

I'm glad I got to go to one of the special days, seems like it'll never happen again

Whilst I'm definitely not a stoned hippy, there was something cool about being parked up on the drove, even on 'ordinary' days.

I'd pay a fiver for 24hrs on the drove, I wonder if they'd be up for turning it into a pay and display? lol.

Don't know how they can just decide that Stonehenge now belongs to them. It surely belongs to nobody & is a religious site for all who want to worship there?
Just another thing hijacked by the powers that be in order to take more money from us the public. Makes me sick & is just another reason for the greedy people at the top of the pile to be ashamed of their greed & unfairness.
