I know not everybody likes George Clarke, but at 8pm tonight he's looking at a converted railway cattle carriage, a vintage Morris Minor caravanette and a 1970s builders' van being converted into a luxury camper.

Might be worth a look if you're bored on a nondescript January evening

    Thanks Marie.
Izzy will be delighted if Georges sidekick, Will, is on too, for some reason she fancies the pants of him. Don't understand it, he walks like he has kacked himself and talks as if on helium? We actually bumped into him in some village or other, Izzy nearly fainted..................so did I when I saw his wife. Very nice.

I can remember one of my earliest childhood holidays was in a bungalow on Pagham beach and that bungalow was made out of old railway carriages.

    As an example,

And there are plenty of old railway carriages bungalows still there.

Hmm. Will's alright, just he talks like David Beckham, which is a proper turn off!

This program is just 'coffee table' stuff, nothing about how they've really done any of it, just 'before' and 'after' shots.

Still, I did say watch only if you were bored!

It was exactly as expected and so long as you watched it as light entertainment it was fine although a little farcical at times

BTW, i checked the registration numbers of the Morris Minor and the Transit cab chassis and they are both presently MOT`d

I love this show but not watched it for ages, it is only an overview but some stuff is amazing. Will have to see if I can remember to watch online to watch how they go on with the transit build. Wouldn’t you think they would start with a decent condition base van, then again he is a designer so shape more important to him.

Good watch and thanks for the reminder Marie

Iveco daily mwb high top panel van..
guess it depends on your point of view

some nutter spent 15k on a rotted out caravan on the back of a rotted out morris minor with an austin badge on the bonnet....

another nutter built a hideous tin shed on the back of a truck... had to pass his hgv to drive it.... no thought seems to have gone into how much water and power the whiskey barrel bath will need.... no sign of any solar.

then 2 other nutters want to build summit from scratch on the back of a mk1 transit chassis cab.... could have slashed the build time and cost by starting with a luton body(preferrably on a more upto date base)).... didnt mention whether it was the petrol vee4 or the york diesel... both are only suitable for scrap. just aint got the power to drag round the body theyre going to build... not to mention the 3.5 tonne weight limit

i just dont see the point in building a body from scratch when you can buy a usable modern luton or high top panel van for 2k.
