Has anyone here got a Skoda with the DSG box matted to a 1.4 TSi engine ? If so have you had any problems ?
The vehicle in question is a 13 plate Octavia with only 25,000 miles on the clock and a full comprehensive Skoda history.

hi
ive got one but its a 1.6 tdi. i had to have a new electronic control unit £1800 they
have to be made in germany to match the car. takes 7 days or so.
then a gear selector went dodgy but vw dont sell or list any internal parts.
it had to go to a independant specialist who fitted a second hand selector.
this car had about 120000 miles. they have to be electricaly diagnosed for
fault codes.
Hi Mr W,
Have a look on the 'Honest John' web site, its a mine of information on things like the one you mentioned.

That box is in several VW group vehicles, it’s a terrific box. I have a version of it in my Golf and it’s great.

I have had Skodas in my “fleet” for many years now. So far we have had 3 Octavias and 2 Superbs (not at the same time but each replacing the previous!) all with the DSG gearbox but none mated to the 1.4. For my sins I am a diesel man. One of my sons has a 1.6 Octavia DSG (as well as a Fabia) and the other son has a DSG diesel Yeti.
To date no problems at all and I reckon the DSG is a great box.
Thank you very much folks![]()
I`d heard some horror stories about the gearbox oil and filter change that they need every 40,000 miles but couldn`t see if it is time related as well.
Whilst the car is nearly 6 years old it`s only done 25,000 miles with a full main dealer service history i couldn`t see any bills / paperwork for the gearbox being done.
P.S.
Who`s the dodgy looking guy in photo 1, is that the scrap dealer who you get your parts off![]()

When I'm not working I am wilding
We’ve got two Audi A3’s with the 6 speed Dsg boxes, one I bought at 125k and is now on 192k ish, no problems with it, the other bought at 90k now about 135k, that one does sort of not know whether to be in 2or 3rd if your being really light on the throttle as it thinks you want the next gear, Hard to explain...but if your either on the throttle 5mm or off it altogether it’s ok.
Great gearbox I reckon.
