It is well worth using scales to measure portion size. My breakfast cereal suggests that a portion is 40g but if I just tip a serving out, it is more like 90g.
But small portions will leave you feeling "hungry" as your blood sugar drops, so try to switch away from eating carbs and go for high fat, high GI foods.
These don't make your blood sugars rise and drop again anything like as much, so you can cope with eating less and not feel the craving to trough more.
It's well-nigh impossible to get rid of all carbs, but do what you can.

When i were young a raw egg was the norm.

I try to buy cereals that are more than 20% fat by weight, so ther Nutty Granola passes that test. However, it isn't organic.
If you saw how much glyophosate goes onto cereals just before harvest, you'd try to stick to organic flour and cereals.
Real Eat Ultimate Organic Granola is good.
There are several supermarket own-brand organic cereals of good quality in France, but in the isolated backwater of the UK, where price is king and crap is popular...

I'm not a fan of glyphosate (or Round-Up as it's generically known), but there is very little evidence of widespread use of it as a desiccant, esp on cereals.
