Thanks for your replies.... Some interesting suggestions..Boating? Been there, done it , but arthritic knees made us swallow the anchor.
Live like a Pirate.. Mmm... Don't all wildcampers do that, to a certain extent?

It all depends on whether Jenny will be confident, when allowed back behind the wheel again.

If not driving, we're thinking about:
Autumn to Spring in the cottage here.
Couple of months in the UK, imposing on friends and family.
August and September in the Azores.

Unless a more cunning plan emerges?

We were due to change the van, anyway, after it's 8 th birthday. Didn't fancy all the hassles.
    But it's happening now.
We're selling our pride and joy, staying in Portugal all summer, in our holiday home... and don't want to retire back to miserable, stressed, polluted Blighty
What do you recommend we do next, to combat boredom and Dementia?
    Gizza clue?
Well if you still have the existing MH I would hang on for a couple of months - maybe the shingles will be sorted out.

If it is you can still change the MH and carry on.

I have just given up my sailing boat but that is more physically demanding than a river/canal boat, which might suit you, but not many places in Iberia are there? France is the best for that.

    Apologies, Dezi..
Having been to Torquay and Brighton, half a century ago...
I'm not certain we could return to that perfect area again, without the risk of wanting to remain there permanently.
    Honest!

    Difficult, Geoff.
Both the van and it's pilot are getting older, we had already decided that this would be time to end our wild ways, after almost 20 years of playing out.
The shingles means that we're off the road, unable to drive back through Spain and France, get an MOT, and organise the sale of the van.
