Jenny's Shingles means she's off the road all the summer .
We were due to change the van, anyway, after it's 8 th birthday. Didn't fancy all the hassles.
    But it's happening now.
We're selling our pride and joy, staying in Portugal all summer, in our holiday home... and don't want to retire back to miserable, stressed, polluted Blighty
What do you recommend we do next, to combat boredom and Dementia?
    Gizza clue?
It's not where you live... It's HOW you live..

become a drugs kingpin. i hear it's quite lucrative and has some fairly exciting moments to keep you on your toes.
ballet also keeps you on your toes, but you get the double bonus of wearing a tutu and not having shootouts with the GNR
    too blessed to be stressed

Sorry to hear about your wifes illness BUT things for you guys surely arent too bad.Im sort of retired but the Mrs keeps on working and says she wont give up untill shes 66 another two years.Id give my right arm to be out in Portugal or Spain etc as you guys are right now.I hate cold depressing Blighty even though of course im proud to be British. On that subject I recently saw a program on the TV and the young lad said when questioned **My Mums not British as she was born in Wales** lol.....What im trying to say is I hope your wife Jenny gets better quickly and try to see whats good in your life as others arent so fortunate.Im tring to help but obviously from your perspective im probably digging myself a deeper hole with my wishes lol.....

So wish you both all the best Michael

Take up brewing! The beer out there isn't great, Dave used to always bring a few boxes of Woodfords Nog and has reintroduced a few expats to good ale! As long as your adega is cool enough in July and August, it gets pretty warm out there doesn't it! I am sure you will have loads of visitors too, who will appreciate it. Not worth making wine, it's cheap and good and the neighbours seem to have an abundant supply which they insist on sharing.
Or spend the time, sitting in the shade, planning an epic trip for when you are back on the road again?
It must be hard to have to change your lifestyle suddenly, but I hope something will fill the gap for you both.

If your viewpoint of Britain is "miserable, stressed and polluted " then my viewpoint is that you come from oop norf.

Here in sunny Bournemouth it is nothing like that perhaps you need a bit of R&R in Dorset.

Take up abseiling, base jumping or become a knife throwing act?
You will miss the adventures of MHing so it needs to be radical.
I know - sewer diving! Oh I forgot, you have already done that.
Best wishes to you both whatever you decide.
