Sat here typing away with one finger after yesterdays little op at leeds general infirmary

The surgeons formed a fistula in the wrist which when matured allows dialysis using needles . takes 6 weeks to grow before it can be used .At which point lines in the chest removed . The main benefits is the new plumbing allows swimming and showers not having exit wounds The risk of infection removed which can become grave at the earliest opportunity

The operation took 1 and a half hours awake throughout using a nerve block as anaesthetic and turned out the surgeon was a motorhome owner having returned from his jollies in Germany.

The worst part for the welders amongst you was removal of the earth strap on a hairy thigh .free wax . Apparently because arteries involved there is a bit of cauterising going on and the equipment used uses some type of earth Amazing stuff really

A little sore this morning had some codeine I had lying about , just as well really has discharged with no pain relief budget cuts perhaps

Cooking off limits a couple of days as is driving and riding bikes longer.

Back on dialysis this morning so hoping the nurses can change dressings also in the best placed to give my fistula the best place to grow it is already buzzing to the touch

incidentally second time I have had a nerve block far more pleasant than a general anaesthetic so if you are ever offered one in surgery give it a go ..Dog got fed last night I didn't life as a one armed bandit has its challenges

Please do NOT post a picture of you in the gown taken from behind.

This is a family site, and we don't want to frighten any young children or animals.

    All the best.
