A few pictures from the Maritime Alps and Provence. A few days spent on the old military roads between Italy & France. Fort central in the pictures but there are a few more along the route. I could spend ten years worth of holidays mooching around the area. Good food, cheap wine and decent camp spots on virtually every corner.

    Good photos ...

Is Fort Central feasible to access with a motorhome?

Wow, very dramatic scenery! Bet you don't see many motorhomes up there!

Certainly any panel van conversion wouldn't have a problem, others I'd say depends on rear hang over, but nearby is accessible with ease from the Italian side, although there is what looks like a 3.5 T restriction.
The nearest track up on the French side is a no entry at the moment, perhaps because of current road works to the tunnel and access road.

Once up there, there are no vehicles, except 4x4's signs but for a good few miles either way, the signs are ignored. Eventually you reach tracks that I'd say you need 4x4 though.

Where the Italian road stops there is a coffee shop with a fair amount of roadside parking, the road splits and you can get to the fort both ways, the track to the west side is probably best, it's a well maintained gravel road, occasional pot holes etc.

Thanks for the extra info - I've added it to the POIs with a note advising to access from Italy only.
